...In the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan...

With our guests already spending the week in London, a week end escape from the city was a no brainer. A little research and a lot of scrolling through airbnb later, we stumbled on the perfect traditional home, right by the sea. With its 17th century walls, thatched roof and picturesque location, Rose Cottage took our pick. Located in Gileston, in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, it lies amongst some of the most wonderful historical villages in southern Wales. The result of a huge restoration project, the cottage was all it ought to be: warm, cosy, tastefully decorated and just a little bit twee.

Nothing rivals sitting around the fire with a bunch of friends, catching up over homemade guacamole and G&Ts. Though admittedly, experiencing a freak hail storm on a sunny day's walk along the coastal cliffs of Nash Point Lighthouse came pretty close. And the cliffs, you ask? Why yes, they are quite wondrous too.
